Basement 45 is a new nightclub vying for attention in the already crowded and colourful night life of Bristol. Attempting to bring a touch of class to the underground scene Basement 45 is hoping to become one of the clubbing institutions of Bristol.

This was a fun website to work on – we love the music, the scene and the people. The challenges were obvious due to the owners ambitions to bring underground clubbing in to the spotlight. The website had to mirror this ambition, appeal to new target markets whilst staying true to the scene.

In this instance we chose to use tools the boys were already familiar with – Google Picasa and Web Albums, Google Calendar; to integrate website administration in to their daily routine. Google’s wonderful set of API’s, and a specifically designed, CakePHP powered CMS has made sure this is a website that works.

Listings – controlled via Google Calendar, tied in to Google Web Albums, with a sprinkling of our bespoke CMS.
Simplicity – seeing a known technophobe manage his own website with a smile on his face.

API’s – Google… Gotta love ‘em.
Tunes – (coming Oct. 2009) playing with genres, DJ’s and tunes in general.

Bijou is a late opening Cocktail bar in Bristol. A nice place to enjoy a drink, hang out with mates or dance to some funky tunes.

One of the clients major requirements was to allow customers to book the venue. We recommended Google Calendar so they could keep track of their bookings and events via any computer, their mobile phone, and the website. With the use of CakePHP and the Google Calendar API we were able to make this happen.

Photo galleries – Utilising Google Picasa’s simple Web Albums functionality to allow the client to populate their site’s photo galleries.

Upfest (Urban Paint Festival) is a contemporary freestyle art event, bringing together an eclectic mix of local, national and international artists in support of a locally run charity with national coverage.

Another easy project to work on – interesting people, incredible graff work and a worthwhile charity NACOA. In addition to Google Calendar driven events and Web Album photo galleries, Upfest also utilises Google Blogger and employs PayPal’s basic shopping cart offering. Tools were chosen for the client that best fit their needs, everything else was packaged in an easy to use CMS.
